Dallas Zoo Dollar Days: How It Works and How Not to Miss the Next One

Twice a year, the Dallas Zoo opens the entire park for $1 per person. That is 106 acres and more than 2,000 animals for a dollar, which is why these dates sell out every single time.

The 2026 dates have passed

The 2026 Dollar Days were July 16 and August 4, and both sold out in advance. If you missed them, do not feel bad: tickets go fast, and the zoo does not sell them at the gate on Dollar Days. The play now is being ready for the next round, and that is what the rest of this guide is for.

How Dollar Days actually works

• Admission is $1 per person for everyone over age 3, online only and in advance
• Tickets are NOT sold at the entrance on Dollar Days
• On top of the $1 entry, there are $1 to $4 discounts on snacks and drinks: hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, and more
• Dates are usually announced in early summer on dallaszoo.com

Getting there without losing your mind

Parking at the zoo runs about $12 and the lot fills up on Dollar Days. Two better options:

• Take the DART Red Line: it drops you off right at the zoo entrance
• Or park once and make a day of the area: Halperin Park, the deck park with the splash pad, is right next to the zoo

Mom tips for the day itself

• Go at opening. The heat and the crowds both climb by the hour.
• Bring water bottles and snacks; the discounted concessions still mean lines.
• Strollers or a wagon are worth it, it is a lot of walking.
• Some animals nap through the heat of the day, one more reason mornings win.
