Free Indoor Play Areas in DFW: Where to Go When It's 105 Outside

When it's 105 degrees in August or raining sideways in the spring, every DFW parent asks the same question: where can the kids run around that doesn't cost anything? Here's my honest list, all checked out in person.

CityScape at CityBridge Community Church

📍 6400 K Avenue, Plano, TX 75074

A free indoor play-city with rope tunnel bridges and skyscraper busy boards. One of the best free finds in the metroplex, and yes, it's really free. Closed Fridays, so plan around that. Full details on the CityScape spot page.

Prestonwood Kidz Indoor Playground

📍 6801 W Park Blvd, Carrollton, TX 75007

Great for toddlers especially. Climate controlled, free, and sized for little ones. More on the Prestonwood Kidz page.

Your local library

Nearly every DFW library runs free story times, craft programs, and play areas, and the summer reading programs come with real prizes. Dallas, Plano, Frisco, and Arlington libraries all post their calendars online. It is the most underrated free air conditioning in Texas.

Store playgrounds

The big outdoor stores (SCHEELS in The Colony, Bass Pro Shops) have free aquariums, displays, and kid-friendly walkthroughs that fill a morning, and several DFW malls keep free soft-play areas near the food courts.
