Things to Do with Kids in Rockwall: A Local Mom's Guide

We spend a lot of time on the east side of the lake, and Rockwall keeps earning it. Here is the family playbook.

The parks

Harry Myers Park is the anchor: free splash pad, shaded playground, picnic tables, and the KidZone playground with two zip lines (one seated for littles), a ninja wall, and bathrooms right there.

Kidzone Park down the street has turf grass and plenty to do, an easy second stop. And just over the line in Fate, Robert Smith Family Park adds a woodland splash pad and covered playground.

The lake evenings

The Harbor is the easy family evening: lake views, a play area by Gloria's, restaurants or a picnic, and the Great Wishing Fountain for pictures at sunset.

The farm mornings

Blase Family Farm does pick-your-own blueberries roughly late May through early July. Reservations required; slots drop daily at 2 pm on their site. Grab the blueberry popsicle on your way out.

In the fall, Huddin Homestead Fun Farm is one of my favorite pumpkin patches anywhere: unique animals to feed and the friendliest staff.

The indoor days

Shenaniganz covers bowling, go-karts, mini golf, laser tag, arcade, and a kid zone, all in one building; watch for their school-break play passes. eKIDS Playzone is the pick for the littlest ones (12 months and under free when we went). And We Rock The Spectrum in Royse City is a short drive for a sensory gym with a great art room.

Where we eat

• 30 Brunch House for weekend breakfast
• Dark Ritual Coffee: coffee for you, the big cookie for them

Worth knowing

Rockwall also has a small-format IKEA now (1801 E Interstate 30) if you live east of Dallas, though note it has no supervised kids play area like the Frisco store. Plan accordingly or make it your solo trip.
